New Orleans

New Orleans was such an interesting place. It wasn't really what I had envisioned it would be. In pictures and on TV it is hard to tell that it is a really dirty and run down looking place. We only went to the French Quarters, maybe the rest of New Orleans is much nicer. It was super HOT there and humid. But, getting away for a few days of no kids was really nice and just what I needed (But, I have been home for a week now, and am in need of another break). Dustin was in meetings most of the time, so I just roamed the streets of the crazy town, and laid by the pool a lot.

There are so many people on the streets trying to get money. This guy was completely silver, and also had a silver alligator(stuffed) on a leash. And a silver top hat upside down on the street hoping to get some money from people.
I am embarrassed to say this, but I thought that New Orleans was on the gulf coast. I was so wrong, this is the Mississippi River. No oil here.
Dustin and I on the air boat getting ready to go see some Louisiana wildlife.

We saw a bunch on Alligators. And they were up REALLY close to us.

Our tour guide had a bag of marshmallows with him. As it turns out alligators LOVE marshmallows. I would have never though that.

There is moss all over the trees in the River/Bayou/marsh.

We had our own "Crocodile Hunter" for a tour guide. He was sorta funny, but mostly crazy!

  1. Looks like you had a fun time.

  2. Completely agree, NO is a dump. I was not impressed.

  3. Since watching the Princess and the Frog, I've wanted to go there. Brett said that Dustin wasn't impressed either. Hmm... You're right, they make it look so glamorous in the movies and pictures.
Glad you got a break without kids though. And so fun to have family to visit.
Now what are your plans for the rest of the summer? We need to get together.
